Rapture - How Deep Is Your Love

Approximately 8 years ago this bands quickly became my favorite band; I had just moved out on my own, just entered my twenties and theirs hit single 'House of Jealous Lovers' was the right mix of nostalgia (House Music) and the new disco-punk sound that was exoding from New York.
A few years after their last album (which didn't get as much praise as it deserved) they're back, still exploring dance genres - this time (it seems) with Disco as their base.  I'm a sucker for a piano rif mixed in with dance beats.
You should also check out this video, it's pretty badass.  I'm loving the found footage, or made to look like found footage dance bands have been using this year.  It ends with a wonderful clip from Saturday Night Fever, Mr. Travolta showing why he was a sex icon to all those over 40 and under 55.  My mom still swoons over that movie.
....
Update:  The other video reference i was going to use, the original music video for Hercules and Love Affair's My House has been taken down.  Bummer, it was damn good.

Anyway, i can't wait to put this album in my record collection!

Disclosure - My Inention Is War

I've been in the mood for electronic music, experiencing the slight effects of dance music withdrawal. With a sample from Robin Thicke & Pharrell's "Wanna Love U Girl" this 90's-esque track sounds lke a classic house jam, and is just what the doctor ordered.

The 16- and 19-year-old brotherly duo, Disclosure hails from south London and have just put out a free EP which you can download by liking their Facebook page. It's filled with bouncy beats and walks a strange line between dubstep and house.

My Intention Is War by Disclosure.

And while I'm at it, here's another song from their EP I'm digging, titled "I love...that you know."

i love...that you know by Disclosure.

James Blake - To Care Like You

James Blake - To Care (Like You) from anetkaxx on Vimeo.

Another post on a 21-year-old musician. I had intentions of posting this months ago but never got around to it. Now that this summer heatwave has been briefly interrupted by a gloomy drizzle of rain, I feel it is an appropriate time to unearth this elegiac electronic dirge from James Blake's 2011 self-titled release.

Nicolas Jaar - I Got A

There's something about this slow, soulful groove that's got me hooked. The dark, nocturnal elements, horns, and sedated hip-hop beat remind me of Portishead circa 1995, and that is a good thing. The meandering piano and french monologue seem as if they've accidentally been intercepted as interference signals from afar.

If you are feeling this track, be sure to check out the 2011 album, "Space is Only Noise." This 21-year-old put together a really haunting disc.

Alex Clare - Relax My Beloved

I'm not very familiar with Alex Clare, but i found this linked on twitter earlier today.  It's something I definitely dig, at least this track, i still to do some listening to for the other tracks on his upcoming (?) album: give me a few days to process those tracks.
This is produced by Switch/Diplo (who i guess i've gained some sort of affinity for, seeing that a lot of the tracks i've posted have been produced by them- fuckers- are they the new Timbaland and Magoo? [i don't mean that as a dis, btw]) and has that white-boy soulfulness that made me fall in love with Jamie Lidell, this album is already on my 'watch' list- damn.

Flying Lotus - Lover's Melt 2

Flying Lotus posted a download link to their megaupload via his twitter.  Within 25 minutes the link crashed due to traffic.  I'm eagerly waiting the new link.  Instead of posting the link (that will eventually crash again) i'll link his twitter so you can get the current download.  I'm so stoked about this, i wish i had a working computer so i can jam to this all summer- i'm so confident this mix will be absolutely brilliant!  :)
